In a groundbreaking development for the crypto and gaming industries, Nike’s non-fungible token (NFT) platform, .Swoosh, is set to be integrated with popular EA Sports games.

This collaboration has the potential to introduce Nike’s virtual footwear and apparel into gaming experiences, marking a significant step towards mainstream adoption for crypto in the gaming community.

Nike announced on June 1 that its “virtual creations,” or NFTs, will soon become part of EA Sports games, although specific titles have not been disclosed yet.

EA Sports is renowned for its immensely popular games such as FIFA, Madden NFL, and NBA Live, which attract millions of gamers worldwide.

It is expected that Nike’s NFTs will offer customizable wearable options for players to enhance and personalize their in-game avatars.

The partnership between Nike and EA Sports holds promise for both the .Swoosh community and the vast EA Sports fan base.

Ron Faris, General Manager of Nike Virtual Studios, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the potential for creating incredible new experiences through this partnership.

Nike introduced its .swoosh NFT platform in November 2022, but it was not until the beginning of 2023 that the company released its first NFT collection.

The initial collection, called Our Force 1, featured virtual shoes inspired by Nike’s iconic Air Force One line. Since its launch, over 97,000 sneaker NFTs have been sold to nearly 53,000 addresses, as reported by Polygonscan.

This move into the gaming metaverse follows Nike’s entry into the virtual realm through the acquisition of RTFKT, a brand specializing in virtual sneakers and collectibles. Additionally, Nike launched Nikeland, a virtual world designed to engage with users in innovative ways.
