Yuga Labs, the creator of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT, has blacklisted addresses related to several marketplaces for not supporting royalties for its Sewer Pass NFT.
Royalties are payments made to NFT creators each time their assets are sold on a marketplace, and while some marketplaces like OpenSea mandate creator royalties of up to 10%, others like LookRare and SudoSwap have made the royalties model optional.
In response to this ongoing debate, Yuga Labs has chosen to ban transactions from marketplaces that do not support royalties for NFTs like its Sewer Pass.
The Sewer Pass is an NFT that grants its holders access to Yuga Lab’s Dookey Dash interactive skill-based game.
According to a Twitter thread by Simon Cousaert, some of the blacklisted addresses include exchange contracts from LookRare, SudoSwap, Blur, and NFTX.
This means that users will not be able to buy the Sewer Pass NFT through these marketplaces. However, the collection can still be purchased via OpenSea.
As of press time, the total trading volume of the Sewer Pass collection on OpenSea stood at 7,904 ETH, roughly $12 million, over the last 24 hours.
