VitaDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that funds research on extending human life, has raised $4.1 million in a funding round led by Pfizer Ventures and including other investors.
VitaDAO was founded in 2021 by Tyler Golato of decentralized biotech protocol Molecule and has a community of over 9,000 members and has deployed over $3.5 million towards aging research.
The funds will be used for longevity research projects and building the first biotech start-up incubated by VitaDAO.
The DAO operates with its native VITA token and allows holders to vote on which projects to support, with a group of stewards to execute the proposals.
The group aims to be a large community with a new governance structure. There is a growing overlap between the crypto industry and the longevity research field, driven by a desire for innovation and new solutions.
