Telegram messaging app users can now purchase, withdraw, and exchange Bitcoin (BTC) through the @wallet web interface, according to an announcement made on April 21.

The Wallet bot and its associated services, however, were developed by third-party developers who utilized Telegram’s open bot API.

This means that anyone can develop their own crypto-related bot using the API, without any direct involvement from Telegram.

With the latest move, users can now buy Bitcoin using a bank card or the P2P market in the “Buy & Sell” section of the user-friendly interface. The updated “Exchange” can also instantly swap Bitcoin, Tether (USDT), and Telegram Open Network (TON) with each other.

As cryptocurrencies gain more popularity and adoption, it will be interesting to see how Telegram and other third-party industry players innovate and adapt to meet the changing needs and expectations of users around the world.

This move builds upon the existing services surrounding cryptocurrencies that are already popular within the chat program.
