Music streaming platform Spotify is testing a new feature that allows holders of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to connect their wallets and listen to curated music.
The service, called “token-enabled playlists,” is currently available to token holders in Fluf, Moonbirds, Kingship, and Overlord communities.
During the three-month testing period, the curated playlists will be actively updated and can only be accessed via a unique link by community members.
Overlord, a Web3 gaming and media universe, announced that holders of its Creepz NFT project can connect their Web3 wallet to access the community-curated “Invasion” playlist.
At present, the pilot is only available to Android users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.
Spotify appeared to confirm the details in a tweet reply. Universal Music Group’s NFT band KINGSHIP also announced that it had created a token-gated playlist for NFT holders featuring popular artists such as Queen, Missy Eliott, Snoop Dogg, and Led Zeppelin.
A screenshot from the pilot was tweeted by the lead developer for NFT liquidity protocol NFTX, Apoorv Lathey, showing step-by-step how to access KINGSHIP’s curated playlist on Spotify.
