The cryptocurrency world has been buzzing with excitement after Changpeng Zhao, the head of Binance exchange, mentioned meme coin SHIB in a recent AMA session.
The news was tweeted by major Shiba Inu-themed account @ShibBPP, and many SHIB fans were intrigued by what CZ had to say about the popular memecoin.
@ShibBPP reported that CZ mentioned SHIB during the AMA session while explaining the listing procedure on Binance.
In response to a question about whether Binance plans to list the recently emerged Pepe meme token, which has exceeded SHIB in trading volume, CZ said that he is not involved in the listing process, as there is a special team for that.
The team examines whether a crypto project has a large user base and a large trading volume before deciding whether to list it.
However, CZ cautioned that Binance never lists a coin quickly, as they monitor how its metrics change over time. If a project sustains, it has a higher chance of being added by Binance.
The news of CZ’s mention of SHIB sent SHIB Army members into a frenzy, with many taking to the comment thread under the tweet to ask for more information.
Some joked that CZ may have mentioned that SHIB had added a zero to its price and then fallen back down, but @ShibBPP did not provide any answer to the questions.
During the AMA session, CZ also admitted that he does not understand meme coins at all, although he acknowledged that there are people who do, such as Elon Musk and others.
This may come as a surprise to many, given that CZ is one of the most influential figures in the cryptocurrency world. However, his comments underscore the fact that meme coins remain a relatively new and niche phenomenon in the broader crypto ecosystem.
