Brazilian football giant Santos FC has announced that it will be expanding the use of its fan token, Santos Fan Token (SANTOS), into the world of gaming.
The football club has partnered with metaverse gaming firm TOPGOAL and Binance’s fan token arm to develop a “gaming environment” that will include a virtual football world called Footballcraft.
The company claims that SANTOS will be incorporated into TOPGOAL Footballcraft by Q3 2023. Additionally, fans can play TopManager, the world’s “first Web3 3D football game” and win rewards including the TOPGOAL governance token, GOAL.
TOPGOAL claimed that this partnership will elevate the Web3 gaming experience for fans and create new opportunities for Santos FC to sell its own branded non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Binance NFT marketplace.
As per CoinGecko data, SANTOS’s market cap is $28,695,907, and its price has gone up by around 5.5% in the past 24 hours.
This collaboration between Santos FC and TOPGOAL marks a significant development in the world of fan tokens and highlights the potential for integrating cryptocurrencies into the gaming industry.
This move also underlines the growing popularity of fan tokens in football and the increasing number of clubs that are adopting this innovative approach to fan engagement.
