Bradley Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple Labs Inc., will no longer be represented by his attorney Nicole Tatz in the lawsuit against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
In addition, Tatz has asked to discontinue as counsel and will depart from her law firm, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, at the end of December.
In December 2020, the SEC brought a legal action against Ripple and its directors, accusing that the sale of XRP, a digital asset, constituted a sale of unregistered securities worth more than $1.38 billion.
Garlinghouse and Ripple’s Executive Chairman Chris Larsen were both named as defendants in the lawsuit.
