OKX, a cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 technology developer, has announced its first immersive metaverse fan experience called “Train Like Dias,” in collaboration with Manchester City footballer and OKX brand ambassador, Rúben Dias.

The experience will allow fans to virtually experience Dias’ favorite training techniques and receive coaching and tips within the OKX Collective metaverse.

Haider Rafique, the global chief marketing officer at OKX, believes that this immersive experience will help connect fans and is a great example of what Web3 technology can offer.

OKX became an official partner with Manchester City in July 2022 and has hinted at future Web3-content offerings from other players on the team, including Alex Greenwood, Ilkay Gündoğan, and Jack Grealish.

The metaverse is a new frontier that explores connections between physical reality and Web3 applications. However, recent events surrounding metaverse development have been mixed.

Disney reportedly scrapped its metaverse division, and rumors circulated that Animoca Brands, a prominent metaverse developer, made cuts of around $200 million to its metaverse fund. Animoca denied these claims.

On the other hand, South Korea launched a “Metaverse Fund” on March 12, intending to accelerate metaverse initiatives within the country. Despite the mixed reception, OKX’s latest announcement shows that the potential of Web3 technology and the metaverse is vast and only limited by our imaginations.
