Decentralized social network Nostr has finally launched its mobile application Damus, available on both Google Play and AppStore.
The news was met with excitement from the community and even received a tweet of approval from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
He called it “a milestone for open protocols” and had previously shown support for Nostr by donating Bitcoin and adding his Nostr address to his Twitter bio.
The Damus app operates similarly to Twitter and gives users complete control over their data, without the need for a KYC process.
All messages are secured with end-to-end encryption. The launch of Damus comes after multiple rejections by the AppStore, but the team behind the app was able to overcome the challenges and bring their vision of a user-controlled social network to life.
