Pwning.eth, a security researcher, discovered an exploit that could have been utilized to steal up to $200 million from three Ethereum-compatible parachains on the Polkadot network.

The vulnerability was within Frontier, a program designed to ‘wrap’ native tokens on Moonbeam, Astar Network, and Acala parachains.

Wrapping tokens turns them into assets that can be supported by apps through smart contracts.

However, the vulnerability was quickly remedied by the teams, with an emergency patch being released to avoid malicious actors taking advantage of it.

Pwning.eth received a reward of $1 million for the discovery, with $250,000 of this coming from Parity, the maker of the Frontier Library.
