HyperPlay, a new Web3-native game launcher with a built-in crypto wallet, has recently announced its early access launch.

The online game launcher was developed in partnership with MetaMask, a leading crypto wallet provider, and aims to integrate players’ crypto wallets with game libraries such as Epic Games Store, GOG, and its own HyperPlay Store.

Founded by JacobC.eth, a former MetaMask operations lead, HyperPlay plans to monetize the platform through crypto services such as swaps and bridges, rather than charging developers any commissions.

The alpha version of the platform was recently launched, allowing users to create new MetaMask wallets within its interface and import their existing wallets through an “import” button.

HyperPlay has launched its platform with 21 Web3 titles, including popular games like The Sandbox, Another World, Bionic Owl, DeFi Kingdoms, and Moonblasters. In addition, it is connected to both the Epic Games and GOG stores, allowing players to launch the games they own from these other platforms using HyperPlay.

JacobC.eth explained that major game stores like Apple, Steam, and Google are deplatforming Web3 game developers by forcing them to accept high taxes on every in-game action.

This has created a need for a new game aggregator, and HyperPlay aims to create a more competitive market between game stores.

With HyperPlay, players can enjoy a universal wallet that doesn’t require them to alt-tab out of a game every time they do a transaction. The wallet can be overlaid on top of a game, allowing users to quickly confirm transactions while playing.

However, JacobC.eth emphasized that HyperPlay is currently in an alpha build and may not be stable. The team hopes to receive feedback from playtesters to improve the product as it moves toward a full public launch in the future.
