Compass Mining, a hardware manufacturer, was awarded a default judgment of $1.47 million plus interest and fees in a legal dispute with Dynamics Mining, a hosting provider.

In June, Dynamics had accused Compass of terminating its hosting relationship with Dynamics due to unpaid electricity and hosting fees connected to a facility in Maine.

Compass, which offers both mining hardware and hosting services at its data centers, contended that Dynamics’ claims were “completely incorrect” and that the company had taken Compass’ equipment “hostage.”

The court sided with Compass, and co-CEO Thomas Heller stated that Dynamics had “violated the rights of both Compass Mining and our clients” and that the legal system had produced a “just result.”

Dynamics accused Compass of attempting to restore its reputation by “preemptively” announcing the verdict.
