Apple is planning to allow the installation of third-party iOS apps to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act.
Furthermore, the new rules will permit European customers to download apps from alternative app marketplaces, which will allow them to avoid Apple’s 30% commission and app restrictions.
The rollout of support for external apps from third-party sources and marketplaces is expected to begin in Europe only, but will be extended to other territories depending on whether they adopt the same regulations.
Additionally, the move could benefit NFT apps and expand the scope of mobile crypto payments.
